Doug graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary in 1985. He has 28 years of onshore conventional and unconventional resource experience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in Drilling and Completions Engineering. Doug is a Past President of the Canadian Association of Drilling Engineers having held the role from 2006-2007. Doug has received Awards for SAGD slotted liner designs evolving to a strain-based thermal design with quality control program and co-authored a SPE paper on ‘Protocols for Slotted Liner Design for Optimum SAGD Operation’ in June 2008. He is currently involved in creating a Canadian-based Drilling Engineering Training Program and developing guidelines and standards for thermal well construction for oil sands development. Doug appreciates the variety of Codeco projects both domestically and internationally, as well as the “get it done” attitude of his coworkers. Doug’s life outside of Codeco consists of coaching soccer, playing hockey and practicing his golf swing.
